A18 Mobile phones evolved from first-generation phones, used only for voice communication, to second-generation phones that can connect to the Internet, to third-generation phones that connect at high speed to the Internet and have functionality that includes music, moving images and TV telephony.

In the fall of 2006, mobile phone companies introduced 3.5-generation services, the main feature of which is the ability to send and receive at high speed large-capacity voice and moving-image files. Besides speedily downloading files, mobile phones can be used to quickly upload to blogs and send to friends photographs taken with the phones.

Mobile phone companies now even offer to simultaneously provide customers with music, moving images, news and other services.
