Q175Are there many companies in China, India and South Korea that have high-growth potential?

A175In the worldwide ranking of the top 500 companies published in the U.S. business magazine Fortune, the highest-ranked Chinese company in 2006 was the China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (SIN OPEC). While 20 Chinese companies were in the top 500, so were 70 Japanese companies, so a gap remains. But, it is worthy of note that in some categories of business, Chinese companies are already outperforming their Japanese counterparts.
The international ranking of the top companies in the oil industry places the U.S. company Exxon Mobil Corp. in the lead, SIN OPEC in seventh place, and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) tenth. Japan's largest oil company, Nippon Oil Corp., was ranked nineteenth, and Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. twenty-third. India has several oil companies in the world ranking, namely, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. ranked twenty-first, Reliance Industries Limited ranked thirtieth, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) ranked thirty-second, and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited ranked thirty-third.
